Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well so far. I have been working on some things for an upcoming craft event and I used an encouraging quote from my Word Art Wednesday challenge which is from Mother Teresa and it's, Be faithful in small things because it is in them your strength lies.
The Word art offered on the challenge is always free for you to use in your art.

This piece along with quite a few others are going to be in the craft show. Very exciting! The Lord has been teaching me some things about myself lately and yesterday was one of those days.
When He's dealing with me and wanting me to sit and think about things that I don't want to sit and think about, I get antsy and start calling people because that way I don't have to sit and be still. So, the way I know, for me, that He means business and that I am to sit still and reflect on what He's trying to show me is, no one will be home for me to talk to or my husband will be out of his office. I will be honest and say, I will burn up a telephone wire trying to get a hold of my good friend. So yesterday, there was no one around just me and Him. And acting like a child who gives in and stomps their feet. I said, fine Lord, here I am. I am going to make this art and think about what you are trying to teach me.
Yes, I am slowly learning the lesson He's needing me to learn. Thank you Lord. :o)

Hi, how's your day goin'? All is well here. I've been productive in the art room making some pieces for my Word Art Wednesday challenge and a few other events going on.
This week's Word art at WAW is of Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
It's amazing how when we do take some time to stop, be still and focus our attention on Him. Everything that seemed to be chaotic, calms down. Thank you Lord.

Hi there, how's it goin'? We finished up our blog hop over at Word Art Wednesday along with our sister site, Stampin' Sisters in Christ. What a beautiful verse. No more walking around in the dark, by that I mean in our minds. It can get dark in there if we choose to allow it. There are ways to break out of the darkness in our minds and it's through His word. And yes, there are times when we will still stumble, fall and make lots of mistakes, it's how we learn. We should pick ourselves up, like a little child, ask for forgiveness and continue on in His word, it's what guides us. Does it take a lot of time, sure, but if you're willing to stick by Him always and love Him, the journey is incredible because you can actually look back on your life and see how far you've come. That's the beauty of it.

For this piece I glued my papers, painted and glued some more. I spritzed the scripture with shimmer mist and walnut ink. I inked the frame with Walnut Distress Ink, added flowers and vine. Around the frame I added three pearls. The rose in the hand is an image transfer that came out really cool! I added some paste around the bottom with sixteen pearls and then walnut ink spritzed the paste so it wasn't so white.

Hi there, today is a pretty day, chilly and the sun is shining and so beautiful. I was playing in the art room the other day and I made this for my Word Art Wednesday challenge. If you haven't played along in the challenge, do stop by and play along. We'd love to see your art.
The Word art I chose for this week is a scripture from Job 19:25 I know my Redeemer lives.
Job went through a lot and lost so much. He continued to bend his knee before the Lord and trust in Him through it all. I am sure it wasn't easy at all to do when your heart feels like it's been ripped out and you feel like you can't go on more second but he pressed past the feelings and in doing so he received double blessings from the Lord.
My prayer is to press past my feelings, let go of the pity parties and to always put Him first and no matter what life might look like or what I'm feeling to press through to Him.

In this piece I did my routine background with paper, glue and paint. I spritzed the vintage image, added some lace and spritzed the doily which came from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Decorative Doily Collection. I added some paste and pearls around the bottom and also spritzed that with some walnut ink as it was a bit to bright.

Hi, I do apologize for not sharing more art. I am still in the process of sprucing up my home and doing my online class. I do appreciate you continuing to stop by and visit with me. I hope you're doing well. :o)

I am the Guest Designer at Gecko Galz this month. I was on their Design Team last year and was very happy when I asked Leanne about a guest spot and she said yes. This piece I incorporated my Word Art in along with one of her beautiful images. I love how she seems to be in a garden and her hands are raised up to praise Him.

They all are but this one in particular because there is no joy in my life without Him. I have found that if I don't take a few minutes of my day to sit still, take a deep breath and regroup with Him, I am unhappy. Nothing and no one else gives me strength to get through the day. Hi there, it's been a few days. I've been quite productive lately. Lots going on and enjoying it.
The piece I am sharing with you today is for my Word Art Wednesday challenge. The Word Art, which is free for you to use is from 1 Samuel 1:27, I prayed for this child and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him.
I have two handsome sons both unique in their own special way and I feel truly blessed to have the chance to be their momma. I've made a lot of mistakes along the way and will make more. I am still learning and hope they know how much I love them.

I love this vintage image and how the momma is looking at her baby with such love. The flowers are made of fabric and if you don't know how to make them you can do a Youtube/Google search for fabric flower tutorials and will get quite a few. The background is of paper, paint and stamping. I spritzed it with some pink shimmer mist and made the bead spray that's tucked into the flowers.

Good morning, I should be getting my day started but I wanted to take a minute and share with you a piece I've been working on. This is for my Word Art Wednesday challenge blog. The verse is from Joshua 1:9 I hereby command you: be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with wherever you go.

I have known for a long time that I've allowed a few people and the negative things they do have control over my thoughts and life. By that I mean I will sit and think about what they said, how can I help them, what if this happens, why do they do this, how can they continue to do this, etc. and I am learning that when I allow these negative thoughts to continuously repeat, it is debilitating to my walk with the Lord, my health, my family and so much more. It's become a very bad habit and I know this is not the life almighty God created me for. I know in the depths of my spirit what I need to do and I know He will be right here with me to help me through as He always is. Thank you Lord for guiding me, loving me, giving me strength each and every day to do the things that I can't do on my own.

Ok, I've been wanting to get some lace and a few other things for some of my art projects. I figured I'd try Goodwill to just see if they had anything in their linens area that I could use like curtains or something. I am strolling down where they have the housewares and I see this bag, not your little 'ol Walmart bag but your trash bag size of lace. Oooo God is awesome! There are all kinds of colors, it was $15. I debated and walked around some more, found a smaller bag, half a garbage bag for $5. A lady next to me says, look at this bag of ribbon, it's $10. I was debating on that too. It had over 100 spools of ribbon. I went back to the smaller bag of lace and carried it around with me just in case as there were other women eyeballin' the bags too. Anyway, I settled for the smaller bag as I got to thinking I don't know where to store all that other lace. I don't even know where I'm going to put all this. When I was at the register a lady in line said, Where'd you find that lace?! Over there. She was gone in a blink. haha!

Genesis 2:24

I have been enjoying time in my art room and I was getting things together for my Word Art Wednesday challenge as the scripture for this week was Genesis 2:24 and this is what I came up with. I don't know about you but there are some things I make that I am like yea, it's nice and it goes into a pile for me to give to Goodwill. Then there are some that I just love and this is one.

The scripture, Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24.

The Lord has blessed me with such a handsome, kind, so, so patient, helpful and supportive man for me to become one with. I could on for days talking about my love. :o) God truly does know the one we are to be with. Thank you Lord.

The paper flowers are from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff new digital stamp Pen and Ink Poppie collection. She also has a new Funky Jars to Fill Set digital stamp collection and my favorite, Decorative Doilies. They can be used for stenciling too. Love those!

The first one I did I actually added a couple more things to it and am happy with how it turned out. I haven't done tags in a while, so it was fun to work on them. Hi there, how's it goin'? All is well here, it's chilly, but nice! The sun is shining bright and the sky is a beautiful blue, not a cloud in sight. Love the sky when it's this pretty blue.
I am sharing with you my piece I did for my Word Art Wednesday challenge, it's a paraphrase from Ruth 1:16 Where you lead, I will follow.

I am finding that I don't like working on a wide canvas, this is 8x10 and am not feeling it. I like smaller and not so wide, to much space to have to fill up, things look empty but then if I fill it up, then it looks cluttered. I could probably do a 6x10 or something but that extra two inches. I don't know, hard to explain. haha!
The beautiful doily is from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, it's new and fun to work with. I love having the doilies to play with as they are great for using as a stencil!

Hi there, here's a couple pieces I made over Christmas break. The first one is inspired from Christy Tomlinson's video she did, called Christmas Canvas tutorial. Very cute, she also did a tree with 2x4 wood pieces. I'd love to do that for next year and the next one is me playing around with another She Art girl from when I took Christy's She Art Workshop. I haven't mastered mine to where I am in love with them yet but I have found that I like mine with hair in a bun. The longer hair seems to look like a helmet head when I do them. haha! Hi there, how's it goin'? All is well here, the sun is shining and there's a crispness in the air, not a cloud in the sky and it's that bright blue. Beautiful day! I wanted to share this piece with you that I made for my WAW challenge. I have the Word art over there free for you, if you'd like to play along.

I hope you can see the texture on the paper behind the lady, I ran it through my embossing folder and then lightly painted over it to bring out the texture. It turned out really pretty.

Hi there, how was your Christmas? It was peaceful and quiet here. We enjoyed the day very much.

I made a couple pieces the other day and I wanted to share with you. Yesterday, I finished up this piece, inspired by Christy Tomlinson's Christmas tree canvas. She has a tutorial video on how to do it. When you get a minute, stop by and watch.

This next one is also inspired by Christy from her She Art Girls workshop. I watched the videos again the other day and love how she makes her girls. Tip on Blogger backgrounds...

Hey, you know how when you add a background to Blogger and you have that white or colored strip across the top? Well, you can remove that color strip by going under design, then under Template Designer. Once you are in Template Designer, click on the Advanced button to your left, click on backgrounds, see where it says, Outer Background, click on the arrow that will then bring up a display box with lots of colors, well at the bottom it says Transparent, click on that and it will remove the color strip and you will be able to see all of your background. I hope I explained this to where you can understand. If not, let me know.

Big news and in the art room...

Hi there, goodness, four days until Christmas! Wow! I am all ready though and looking forward to spending the day with my family and knowing how blessed I am to know the Lord and sharing this day with Him. I don't know about you but I get more excited watching my family open their gifts than I do with my own.

I have announced the ladies who are on my DT over at my challenge blog Word Art Wednesday! Great group of ladies, excited to have them on this new adventure with me. When you get a minute do stop by WAW and visit with the team.

I have been in the art room and made a piece to share with you. I have a couple more just need to get pictures of them. This one is one for WAW it's on Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill His purpose for you.

This was a lot of fun to make. I added paste in the lower corner with the stamp texture in it. A splash of brown stamp, mixed in with the blues. As most of you know I love vintage images and it seems it's been awhile since I've used them, so looking through all the images to find one that would best suit this was nice to be doing again. The frame on this piece is lifted off the page as so are the strips of scripture. I like things to be up off the page to where you can feel the texture of it.

Hi there, it's been quite a productive week and weekend and it's finally feeling like Christmas, the temperatures are chilly. I know what you're thinkin', she's silly for wanting it to be cold. Probably, but in the summer it was in the three digits. Now that it's winter, it feels good out.

I have some art to share with you and I love how they turned out. I am in the process of cleaning the art room out now and it's quite messy in here. I have thrown out and given away so much, I can't believe there's still more stuff in here. The Lord has surely blessed me with more than enough to make art with.

Hi there, the weather here is gray today. After spending a week in the mountains with chilly winter weather was nice and to come home to seventy degree weather in December is not my idea of winter. December is winter it needs to be cold. haha! So maybe today the weather will shift into cooler weather.

Mountains and some art..

Hi there, it's been a while. Thanksgiving was nice and I am looking forward to Christmas! :o) We spent some time together this past week up in the mountains and what a great time. It was so pretty as it always is. We took some awesome photos of this beautiful little spot that the Lord has created for us all to enjoy. I would love to build a house right near here so I could enjoy the beauty everyday. The first photo below was taken when the sun was just getting things warmed up. It was in in the fifties during the day but with the sun shining it didn't feel that cold. At night it got down to around the mid twenties.

I started on this piece while we were there and just finished it. I cut it out of pine wood, added some paint and stamping. The roof is of patterned scrapbook paper and I used decorative scissors to cut it out. The scripture I love as it's my daily reminder that no matter what I am doing that day I am to do it as if it's for the Lord and not for man.

Hi there, are you busy getting goodies ready for tomorrow? I've baked a pie and am working on a few other things. The only thing I am not fond about Thanksgiving and Christmas is all the cooking as it takes hours to prepare, twenty minutes to eat until you feel like you're going to pop and then an hour to clean up when you're oh so tired. haha! At least for me that's how the day seems to go.
I got some time the other day to sit down and make art, which was nice, actually, I have quite a bit of time but I tend to spend it on doing other things and at the end of the day I am like why'd I spend all day doing that when I could have been making something. I need to manage my time on here better.

My project I made is for my WAW challenge and the scripture I posted for it was Hebrews 13:15 Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all time offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of the lips that thankfully acknowledge, confess and glorify His name.

I think it's a great reminder for me to daily be looking and searching for things the Lord does for me and to thank Him for them right then. They are so little that if I'm not careful they pass on by. I know for me, an unexpected hug from my children, thank you Lord. In the middle of rush hour traffic and there's a spot to get out, thank you Lord. They may seem silly to some, but I'm thanking Him. :o)

We have so much to be thankful for. In Psalm 42:5 the psalmist is asking why am I so discouraged and so sad, he will put his hope in God and praise Him again. So in the midst of whatever it was he was going through he continued to praise and thank Him. There are times when I've been so afraid to do or say something that I forget to find those positive things to be thankful for and when it's all over I think back on it and am in awe that I made it through and He was right there beside me.
Here's my project, it has a lot going on with it, my husband asked if the paint was meant to be tears. I said it could, I guess it depends on what you're feeling when you look at it and read the scripture. Most of my art I am finding is wrapped around keeping my peace and praise to Him in the midst of a fast paced in your face world.

Pumpkin art...

Hi! How are you? I've got lots of things to do today, some fun and not so fun. It's all good though. I mentioned last night that I was working on a Thanksgiving project as I am not able to find any decorations in the stores, well at least Target I didn't see any. It's more fun to make it myself anyway. I used a pumpkin svg from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, Classic fall clipart and svg file and traced and cut it out onto a piece of wood, glued down my favorite papers, painted, stamped, inked up the edges of some prima leaves and added some wire. I have a new project that I am going to share with you soon and tried to do a video of me creating this project but the camera had to many photos on it so it kept timing out. I will do another one soon! Gracious, Thanksgiving is next week. I always get antsy about what I am going to cook and bake and will everyone like it, will it be done on time...hahah! They all love it, so I don't know why I get all antsy. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I am still here and will share what I made soon!

Angel Oak Tree

What a great day, the weather was beautiful. We went on a field trip to see this amazing and beautiful tree. Standing under it is so amazing to look all around it and be in awe the strength it has. It's gone through a hurricane and still stands. Below is a picture and some history on it. Enjoy the beauty.

Angel Oak is a live oak. It is native to the low country and is not very tall but has a wide spread canopy. Lumber from the live oak forests in the sea islands was highly valued for shipbuilding in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Angel Oak stands on part of Abraham Waight's 1717 land grant. Mr. Waight owned several plantations.

Recorded history traces the ownership of the live oak and surrounding land, back to the year 1717 when Abraham Waight received it as part of a small land grant. The tree stayed in the Waight family for four generations, and was part of a Marriage Settlement to Justus Angel and Martha Waight Tucker Angel. In modern times, the Angel Oak has become the focal point of a public park. Today the live oak has a diameter of spread reaching 160 feet, a circumference of nearly 25 feet, and covers 17,100 square feet of ground.

The Angel Oak is thought to be one of the oldest living things east of the Mississippi River. Acorns from the Angel Oak have grown to produce authentic direct-offspring trees.. Live oaks generally grow out and not up, but the Angel Oak has had plenty of time to do both, standing 65 ft high and with a canopy providing 17,000 square feet of shade. Its limbs, the size of tree trunks themselves, are so large and heavy that some of them rest on the ground (some even drop underground for a few feet and then come back up), a feature common to only the very oldest live oaks. It has survived countless hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and human interference, so there's a good chance it will still be there waiting for you.

Hi there, today's a beautiful day but the weather really needs to make up its mind. One day it's cold then warm. I'm happy with 68 degrees for winter. We are off to a field trip soon and I wanted to get this posted early. I hope you have a great day and so glad you stopped by to join in the fun!

The background of this piece is the one I did in the tutorial below on using glue and paint technique to create a crackle effect. I added some hymn paper around the lady and put some paste along that with a flower and some beads. I also added a stamp and some red with bubble wrap.

Hi there, I hope you had a great weekend, it was quiet and relaxing here. I wish the weather would make up it's mind if it's going to be cold or hot though. Today it's a bit warm with a cool breeze, I am looking forward to the winter weather. It doesn't get to bad here.

I was in my art room this morning and this is what came forth, be kind to yourself. I am and have been quite hard on myself in trying to figure things out in my life and what it is I am to be doing, etc. A couple weeks ago my best friend shared, focus on what God has you doing right now and stop trying to figure out what His life plan for you is. Last week, my neighbor was doing a Bible study with the book, Forgotten God and I asked her what's it about she said, basically, focus on what God has you doing right now and not what His life purpose is for you. I shared this with my best friend and I just smiled because I know it was the Lord. Whatever it is you're facing, take today and do what you know in your heart is what He wants you to do and don't worry about the future. If you make some mistakes as I do, have and will continually do, ask Him to forgive you and help you to learn from them and move on. Be kind to yourself.

For this week, I chose this encouraging quote as it seems fitting for what I have been pressing through in the past week.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain".

This is piece of pine scrap wood, with collage papers, I added some green paper and paint to give it more of a grass look at the bottom. I stamped all over, painted the sides with brown and black and added some white bubble wrap stamping. The words are distress inked in different colors to remind me that whatever I am facing I don't have to allow it to consume me and bring me down.
To see it just as that, a storm and it will soon pass. Keep my head up and focus on the good that surrounds me.
The image is from Graphics Fairy and I distress inked them in spun sugar and a little purple, not sure of the name of the purple. They aren't glued completely down, the tops of them are lifted off the page as if they are dancing right off the page away from the storm.

Hi, it's getting chilly here. It's nice. We have a local scrapbook store here in our town. I figured it's time for me to start exploring the artsy craftsy world. I had called the owner yesterday asking her when her next get together was for when the ladies come in, hang out and do their own art, etc. It was today, so I gathered up some supplies and headed over. It was fun, had a nice time.

Here's what I made. I took the dress form from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff digi stamp collection, enlarged it and traced it out on wood and cut it out. Love it! It's my new thing right now to work on. The next one is on a piece of recycled cardboard. They were both a lot of fun to put together.

Friday with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff...

Hi there, my first post on this new adventure, it's for Lindsay at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff and this piece is close to my heart, helping me press through some things. The main piece is a dress formm from her Sewing Bits and Bobs collection the wings and bodice paper are from her Vintage Sheet Music collection, which is free. The flair at the bottom of the form is from a coffee filter. The words are dear to my heart, I read them and get teary eyed. I wrote them on regular computer paper, added some distress ink and cutout. The flower is cut from a scalloped punch and wrinkled.

Hi...I'm on a new adventure and a couple weeks ago the words, this art that heals was laid on my heart and I didn't pay much attention to it. The other day I was thinking more about it and wondering what to do with it, etc. I kept asking the Lord what does it mean. Tonight in my quiet time, the Lord showed me, it's about me finding a new purpose, letting things go that try to hold me back, standing up to my fears, holding onto my joy and peace, standing strong and embracing the artist that is within me and allowing the woman I am becoming to hold her head high. A big part is also, my children are nineteen and fourteen, being a momma is all I've ever known and been. I'm still a momma and it's still my purpose but in a different way now. They are off creating their own lives as it should be and they don't "need" me as they once did. There are nights I cry wondering what am I to do with me once the "baby" has left the nest. I am holding the Lord's hand as He guides my steps into this new journey.

I was in my art room looking around at the things I've done and how far I've come in my art, which I've come a long way, haha! My art lifts me up and brings me to a brighter place. So, I got to thinking, how nice it would be to share the journey with other ladies. Surely there are other ladies out there facing things in their lives who want to share their art and talk about it. I don't have any art group meetings with others where we just hang out, chat and do art. This is the next best thing.

I am planning to have a Wall Art Wednesday project where I post a scripture, special word or quote and we create our art around that piece.
I also want to do, Dose of Inspiration videos where I am making a piece of art using different styles, etc. in hopes that it inspires you in some way.
With my art I don't go by themes, rules, challenges or anything, I just sit down and allow whatever wants to step out and be made, be made. The best part is how relaxing it all is.

I hope that you join me on this new adventure in the healing beauty of creating art.
